About this restaurant
Café Exter on the Eksterlaar in Deurne (Antwerp) is probably the oldest inn in Deurne. In 1548 d'Exterke was one of the seven Deurnese breweries. During the Spanish siege of Antwerp (1583-85) Deurne was almost completely burned down. Also d'Exter was destroyed. In 1621 d'Exter was rebuilt. In 1644 the inn was also established. In 1976 Café Exter was protected as a monument. The immediate surroundings of the café also form a protected landscape. A commemorative plaque, affixed in 1961, reminds us that it had the pleasure of knowing Breugel, Conscience and Sleeckx among its customers... In 2009 the business was completely renovated by the new owners and in May 2019 it was quietly taken over by Nicky Coremans. Whether it's for a fresh Stella or a bolleke at the bar, a quick snack, a business lunch or a sumptuous dinner, you can always rely on us for quality. Our terrace under the old lime trees offers both sunny and shady spots, highly recommended!
