About this restaurant

On the border of Bruges, Damme and Beernem lies the Ryckeveldebos, nature with centuries of history. Our domain consists of the historic castle (anno 1451), the shrubbery and the carriage house on an area of almost 3 hectares. In the coming years we want to completely revalue both the buildings and the grounds. Three things come together in everything we do: the love of nature, respect for the past and the social purpose we pursue. You can feel this love for all things green in our garden. From the chestnuts, some of which are 300 years old, we took grafts to restore the orchard to its former glory. In the garden we grow organic vegetables that are incorporated into our menu that moves with the seasons. A fine selection of wine and beers on tap are a matter of course for us. The honey in the tea we serve comes from the bees that live next to the castle. They provide some life in the brewery. We strive for a bottom up vision. Our chickens eat the kitchen scraps, they in return provide eggs from which we make the pancakes and provide breakfast for our guests. Starting in 2022, we will begin the restoration of the farmstead. Among other things, there will be new roofs and windows so that the beautiful building can serve as a B&B. The historic castle will also be remodeled. There will be buttresses against the house and the garage will be demolished so that the manor will regain its original character. Thus, the site will become a beating heart that expands or shrinks a bit depending on the season. In winter, you can come and have a coffee or wine in the mansion on weekends or holidays. In summer, the garden also comes alive: we harvest our vegetables, open the summer bar and welcome guests in the tree houses.
